Successes of the Scientific Method
Critical Thinking The freedom of thought that followed the scientific method was apparent. It revolutionized skepticism and led to a level of critical thinking previously unheard of. To accompany this, it also made the people think for themselves, rather than follow the hearsay of the Church. The danger lies in the fact that it changed the way people lived because of the church being overthrown by this new way of thinking.

Summary
The scientific method was born during a time that was desperately in need of a concrete way to analyse the world. There was an abundance of prejudice in the world from the Catholic Church’s scientific teachings and closed mind to other ideas. The Church was the main obstacle in the spread of the idea because it conflicted with their views.
Despite the resistance, it persevered and created a new way of thinking: requiring validation and proof for ideas to be taken seriously. Some of the major benefits of the scientific method are: elimination of hearsay in scientific truths and the creation of theories. It was so dangerous because it countered the Catholic Church by disproving many of their beliefs and lead to the creation of other revolutionary theories because of the concrete methodology it provided and finally, it permitted people to think for themselves, and to break free from the church. The scientific method was a fundamental change to the way ideas were tested to become “facts”. |
